Free Tax Preparation by IRS-certified volunteers is available again on Pine Island. Tax returns will be prepared at the Beacon on Fridays beginning February 2nd and continuging until April 5th. Please stp by the Beacon on any Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday to make an appointment and pick up a packet of materials which are needed for the appointment. If you have questions please call the Beacon at 239-283-5123.

The Samaritan Health and Wellness Clinic is now open every other Wednesday from 8 am to 4 pm here at the Beacon.  This primary care clinic is for the uninsured and underinsured and is for all ages. It also deals with mental health issues. The cost is $50 with help available if needed. Call for an appointment at 239-360-7520.

The Attic – Every Tuesday is 50% off all clothes, shoes, and jewelry. Days of 50% off “almost everything” will be held on some days. The next ones is Thursday, March 21st..

The “Jane’s Gift” Endowment Fund has been started. This will help us continue our mission for many years to come. See the details on the President’s page.

 

 

Ongoing Events

Community Programs/Client Services are open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm. You can make an appointment with a Case Manager at these times. Computers, fax and printer are available for use and the Emergency Pantry is open. We also have a Notary.

Beacon Bites and Transportation to medical appointments and treatments are ongoing. Call 239-283-5123 if you need either of these.

The Saturday Food Bank is on hold until further notice.

Wellness Committee – Next meeting – to be announced

Fund Raising Committee Meeting – 3rd Monday of the month. Next meeting Monday, April 15th, 2024  at 10 am.

Veterans Outreach – first Friday of every month from 9am to 12:30pm. Call for an appointment.

Pine Island Cares – Next meeting will be Monday, April 8th at 10 am.

Blood pressure screening on Wednesday from 1 to 2 pm and Saturday morning from 10 to 11 am.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support class. To register call 239-437-3007. Is held every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 9am at the Methodist Church.

Strange Arrangements – Monday 6 – 7:30 pm. A musical experience. Lessons given.

The Boy Scout troop will meet every Wednesday at 6 pm at the United Methodist Church.

Girl Scouts meets on Friday nights at 6.

GED classes are every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 2 pm. Applications for classes may be made on Tuesday and Thursday between 9 am and 2 pm.

ESOL class – Every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6 pm…

The Attic (Thrift Store) is open from 9 am to 3 pm  Monday to Friday. Saturday hours are 10 am to 3 pm.  Donations may be brought from 9 am to 2:30 when we are open. To see what type of donations we are able to take, check out ” What We Do” on this Website and go to “The Attic/Thrift Store”.
