Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

PTSD is a psychiatric disorder that may occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a serious accident, a terrorist act, combat, rape or who have been threatened with death, sexual violence, or serious injury. Sometimes, the even is not necessarily a dangerous one as in the unexpected death of a loved one.

According to the World Health Organization “Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community. Mental health affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life.
